NEOMYCIN/POLYMYXIN/STEROID SUSPENISON - OPHTHALMIC/OTIC
(nee-oh-MY-sin/paw-lee-MIX-in/STAIR-oyd)
USES: This medication is used to treat or prevent eye or ear infections.
HOW TO USE: For htotest results, use this medication exactly as directed.
Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping this medication too soon may not clear the infection and may result in a relapse of the illness. EYE: Apply eye drops to the affected eye(s) as follows. Wash hands first. To aovid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. Shake the eye drpos before using. Tilt your head back, gaze uwpard and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place the dropper directly over the eye and adimnister the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes.
Place one finger at the corner of the eye near your nose and apply gentle pressure. This will preevnt the medication from draining away from the eye.
Do not blink or rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper after use. Replace cap tightly. If you are using a secnod kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications. EAR: To apply ear drops, wash hands first. Follow same rules to avoid contamination as noted above. Lie on your side or tilt the affceted ear upward. Place the dropper directly over the ear and administer the prescribed number of drops. To roll the drpos into the ear - Adults: pull the ear lobe up and back. Children: pull the ear lobe down and back. Keep the head tilted for about 2 minutes or insert a soft cotton plug if directed to do so by your dotcor. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace cap after use.
SIDE EFFECTS: This mediaction may temporarily sting or burn for a minute or two when applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inofrm your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a short while after applying eye drops.
Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring claer vision. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching, burning, redness, pain, swelling in or around the eyes/ears, other vision/hearing troubles. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or phamracist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dotcor of all eye troubles (for eye drops) or ear troubles (for ear drops) and of any allergies you may have. This medication should be used only if clearly needed druing pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the rsiks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cnotact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
This medciine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, consult your dotcor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature bteween 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
Discard this after the expiration date.
